As much as the twice yearly catalog projects I manage at C&T Publishing tend to take over for my life for weeks at a time, it sure is great to have something tangible, beautiful even, to show for my team’s efforts. I am more proud of the new Spring 2010 Catalog than of any other catalog C&T has published since I began my employment there.
As with every project, not everything went exactly as I wanted and there are a few things I would change about it if I ruled the world. But considering how many people the catalog has to please, I’m extremely happy with how it turned out. Every time I look at it I smile and do a little victory dance in my head for the beautiful pink rhino on the cover. YES!
The pink rhino quilt on the cover is from Serendipity Quilts by Susan Carlson (page 29) and the quilt at the top is from City Quilts by Cherri House (page 26). You can download the entire catalog here on the C&T Publishing website.

The below 2-page spread shows two of the new releases I am most excited about: both City Quilts and Little Birds will be released in May 2010.

The next image gives you a better look at our New Release page layout. The New Release section pages were completely re-designed for this catalog by designer Kristy Zacharias and I’m really happy with the new look. I’m proud to say that the majority of the recommendations I made for the new template were accepted and implemented.

The page above as well as the one below both feature spring 2010 releases I am particularly excited about. I’ll talk about our product lineup for spring in a separate blog post though.

Here’s a look at our new backlist section page layout. Instead of giving the recent releases from Fall 2009 their own section in between the new releases and backlist as we had done in the past, we just mixed those titles in with the backlist and gave them “featured” status. The increased size and additional copy included for each recently released title serves to visually break up the page for the reader and minimizes the monotonous feeling often found in the 20-page section.

Nice work, Danielle! I love the pink elephant on the cover.
Whoops, I see now that the elephant is actually a rhinoceros. My kids tell me I’m losing my mind, and I guess it’s true.
